A George III sterling silver cruet set, London 1780 by John Wakelin & William Taylor (reg. 25th Sep 1776)
Of navette form, with reeded loop handles, moulded edges and raised on openwork feet. Fitted with three detachable screw fit openwork bottle cages, each containing three graduated silver-mounted glass jars (the smaller with later glass bodies). Fully marked underneath, the smaller detachable cages part marked, the larger with makers mark only, the jar covers unmarked. Also engraved underneath with scratch weight 19:5.
