AN IMPERIAL PAHLAVI QUR'AN AND A QUR'AN STAND
Iran, dated 1344 AH (1965)
Arabic chromolithograph on paper, 788pp., 12ll. of black naskh script to the page, sura headings in gold against white cartouches with polychrome cusped arabesque terminals, catchwords and page numbers on the lower-left corner of the pages, the borders decorated with cusped polychrome cartouches filled with vegetal scrollwork, printed by Bank Melli publishers, signed by the calligrapher Neyrizi, with a dedication page with the signature of the Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, in printed covers imitating Qajar lacquered book bindings with a typical floral triumph, the text panel 27.5cm x 15cm, the page 40.2cm x 25.5cm; and a wooden polychrome-painted Qur'an stand, 47cm x 20cm.
This Imperial Qur'an comes with a commemorative note (first fly-leaf) recording that the book was given as a gift of appreciation to Mercantile Law Professor, Dr. Hassan Sotudeh Tehrani, from the Tehran University's Head of School of Law, Political and Economic Sciences, Dr. Mohammad Ali Hedayati, in the date 28 Aban 1346 (November 1967).
