AN ANTIQUE SERAB RUNNER, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The light beige field with four hooked and linked large medallions, each containing various angular floral motifs. Stylised polychome palemette and leaf bold motifs at each side. In an ivory border of hooked and checkered panels, shapped palmettes and delicate angular floral vine between angular panels and wide arrowhead stripes. Outer plain stripe, approx: 11ft.2in. x 3ft.7in.(339cm. x 109cm.) Very good type and very well blended colours. Motifs are well drawn. This piece has slightly corroded charcoal-brown. Selvages original with fraying in few small places. One end with original kilim, other end with short fringes, slightly fraying on the guard stripe. The pile has slight localized wear. In general this runner is in good usable conditon. Date in one corner, AH1319 (1901AD). Attrctive and good furnishing piece.
