The central roundel depicting a scene from Dream of the Red Chamber where the scholar seated on a chair before a monk holding a fly whisk is about to request to live in the temple, a large screen decorated with mountains in the background, the wide rim decorated with various diaper pattern separated with four panels each painted with a scholar in a state of relaxation, six character Kangxi mark to the base, 20.7cm diameter.
