A VERY FINE ANTIQUE SAROUK RUG, WEST PERSIA

The rust-red field with delicate angular floral and leafy vine around hooked and indented ivory floral medallion with bold palmette pendants containing double serrated panel centerpiece. Bold palmette spandtels. In an ivory border of stylised turtle-palmettes and delicate angular floral vine between flowering vine, hooked boteh and barber-pole stripes. Outer plain stripe, approx; 4ft.10in. x 3ft.5in.(147cm. x 104cm.) Very good type with very nicely drawn design and good colour combination. This rug has slight localized wear at one side, down to knot collar showing warps, otherwise good pile. Ends with short fringes, slightly frying. Selvages rebound. Very fine weave, approx; 7 x 7 knots per sq. cm. In general this rug is in good usable condition. Despilte the imperfections it still retains the elegance.
