A FINE KASHAN CARPET, CENTRAL PERSIA

The red field with central large cusped medallion with pendants containing multicoloured palmettes, rosettes, arabesques and floral vine enclosing smaller ivory and light blue similar medallions and radiating rosette centrepiece. Spandrels similar. In an indigo border of serrated palmettes, arabesques, floral and leavy vine between light blue palmette and rosette florawering viine stripes. Outer arrowhead and plain stripes, approx: 12ft.2in. x 8ft.10in.(370cm. x 268cm.) Very good type with very nicely drawn design and good colour combination. Bold appearance. This carpet has good pile, very soft and lustrous wool. Ends with short fringes. Selvages original. Fine weave, approx: 7 x 7 knots per sq. cm. Fine light blue cotton weft. In general this carpet is in very good usable condition. Elegant and very good furnishing piece. Attractive.
