Notes:

César Domela was a Dutch painter, sculptor, photographer, and typographer known for his influential role in the De Stijl movement. Initially self-taught, Domela began his artistic journey with expressionist painting before transitioning to abstract geometric compositions under the influence of constructivism and neoplasticism. He joined De Stijl in the mid-1920s and became one of its key members, contributing both art and theoretical writings. Domela's work often incorporated a strong sense of order, clarity, and spatial tension, using a limited palette, clean lines, and industrial materials such as metal and Plexiglas. His innovative use of typography and photomontage also made him a significant figure in modern graphic design. Throughout his career, Domela remained committed to the idea of art as a tool for social and spiritual progress, echoing the utopian ideals of De Stijl.
