A very large George II Scottish silver tankard, Edinburgh 1731 by William Jamieson (reg. 1729), assayer Archibald Ure

Of cylindrical form upon a domed spreading base, the body with an applied central girdle, the handle with a C scroll handle leading to a stepped domed lid surmounted by an acorn form finial, raised by a scroll and shell form thumbpiece, the front with lid with overhanging apron. Fully marked underneath, the lid unmarked.

Height – 25 cm / 9.9 inches

Weight – 1459 grams / 46.91 ozt
