This and the following lot by Borione make the Roman Catholic Church the butt of their joke. In the present work and A good read prelates in elegantly appointed private interiors indulge in reading a novel and playing a guitar, pursuits in their day that would have been deemed highly inappropriate for such eminent men of the cloth.
