Possibly Isfahan, Iran, late 19th - 20th century

Of rectangular shape, with a brown leather spine tied with a silk and cotton cord, the front cover a tour-de-force of Qajar Iran's decorative arts of the 19th and 20th century including polychrome-painted and lacquered vegetal scrolls and boteh leaves; engraved silver mounts in the shape of cusped flower collar medallions and arabesque cartouches filled with lush flowers and dense foliage; several plaques with polychrome-painted enamelled panels with rosette stems on black grounds, and a couple in the wilderness in the central roundel, the male subject reminiscent of standard poet's portraits like Ferdowsi and Rumi; all encased within concentric khatamkari borders with six-pointed stars and hexagons geometric bands, the back cover with a similar background decoration, the central medallion with a painted hunting scene, signed in black ink on the upper left corner The Work of Islamiyan (?), with raised silver rosette fittings on each corner, the interior empty, 26cm x 44.5cm.
