An Alexander II mid-19th century Russian parcel gilt silver jar and cover, Moscow 1868 by ∂∂ (untraced)
Of compressed circular form with a rounded foot. Chased trompe-l'œil decoration of basket weave, partial gilt, the pull off lid formed and textured as string bound cloth. Fully marked underneath for assayer Viktor Vasilyevitch Savinsky, the lid with maker’s mark and chetvernik.
