An early 20th century Iraqi silver and niello three-piece tea service, Omara or Baghdad circa 1930 signed Faraj
Comprising a teapot, a milk jug, and a twin handled sugar bowl. Each of tapering elongated octagonal form. The teapot with a panelled spout opposite a shaped handle, with a hinged lid surmounted by a knop finial. The milk jug of similar form, the sugar bowl with a scalloped rim. The teapot with niello decoration of the Al Kadhimiya mosque, Baghdad, otherwise with dhow sailing boats and palm trees, all above a geometric band. The lid with ferns and stars. The spout with the Taq Kasra (Ruins of Ctesiphon), and a camel and rider. The milk jug with the Tomb of Ezra, dhow sailing boats and a boatman in a gufa, the sugar bowl with the Taq Kasra (Ruins of Ctesiphon) and the same. Each signed to the side فرج عمل (Amal’e Faraj | the work of Faraj). (3)
