An early 20th century unmarked German silver and enamel compact

Of square form with a hinged lid to a simple thumbpiece. The top decorated with painted enamel scene of 'The swing' also known as the 'The Happy Accidents of the Swing' by Jean-Honoré Fragonard around strapwork scrolling border. The sides and underside with vivid green guilloche enamel. The gilt interior fitted with mirror. Stamped The swing, Birks and Fragonard on the lid bezel, otherwise unmarked.
