An early 18th century George I unmarked gold mounted horn and tortoiseshell snuff box, England circa 1720
of waisted circular form, the lid with a stand-away hinge and a simple plain scroll gold thumbpiece. The lid with an inlaid pique scene of a classical ruin edged with shell and scroll sprays, all edge with horn. The front with a bouquet of fruit, a bird, and trefoils, flanked by stylised flower heads, the underside with a flower. Interior lacking.
