***Eva Purdy Thomson was Churchill’s American cousin, and David was her husband. The books were signed for him and received just a few weeks after being signed by Churchill. The Als is on blind-stamped Colonial Office paper, a polite note hoping that the books arrived safely and that she should come to his new house for lunch; dated Nov. 17th. 1906.
