a vellum leaf, with large rectangular miniature, within frames of burnished gold bars and decorated panels of pink and blue heightened with white tracery and tiny coloured foliage laid over thin burnished gold panels, above a 4-line initial in pink heightened with angular white penwork enclosing a red pot with symmetrical sprays of coloured foliage on gold grounds, full border of dense rinceaux single-line foliage terminating in gold ivy-leaves and red and blue flowers, realistic sprigs of foliage at corners, 15 lines with red and blue initials on verso, slight rubbing to gold, face of David perhaps repainted, very fine, le4af 165 x 120mm, miniature 70 x 20mm., [northern France (probably Paris), c.1420-30]
