Iran, 17th - 18th century

Of compressed circular shape, on a gently rounded plain base, with narrow shoulders and a flared cylindrical neck ending in a reinforced circular rim, the exterior engraved with three main decorative bands, the largest band with arabesque medallions filled with vegetal tendrils, above it a continuous band with cusped cartouches within roundels, around the neck a calligraphic band with the salawat and the names of the Imams, against scrolling vegetal sprays, framed within two thin bands of vegetal scrollworks, 21cm diam. and 15.5cm high.
