THE DANCE OF LORD KRISHNA AND THE GOPIS (KRISHNA LILA)

Opaque pigments and gold on paper, the large vertical composition depicting a typical devotional scene of Lord Krishna dancing with the Gopis, the golden-haloed blue-skinned God repeated several times in the dancing circle giving the impression of movement and spin, the Gopis holding hand with their Beloved and admiring the pair in the centre showing off typical Indian dance figures, the group showered with flowers and blessings of two Hindu Gods, Brahma on the right and Vishnu on the left, both depicted on golden Hamsa duck vehicles at the top by the horizon's line, set within ochre yellow and white rules, and dark green and bright red borders, set on a white cardboard mount, 37cm x 27cm excluding the mount.
