An early 20th century Japanese silver cigar or cigarette box, Yokohama circa 1920
Taishō period. Of rectangular form with a hinged gently domed lid. The lid and sides with flat chased decoration of peonies with foliage, partially inlaid with gold. Lacquer interior and base, with internal lacquer divider with silver trim. Signed to lid corner. Marked underneath with standard mark 純銀 (jungin).
Length – 19.2 cm / 7.55 inches
