A Victorian unmarked silver gilt mounted and turquoise set ruby glass scent bottle, circa 1850

The ruby glass body of ovoid form, the silver gilt hinged mount set with fourteen claw set turquoise, otherwise with engraved decoration of foliate scrolls. Containing a handwritten note: "Scent bottle Given to Lady Lister Kaye Sykes's daughter in law Lady Caroline Lister Laye, and mother and aunt to of in law to Miss Cornwallis".

Length – 9.6 cm / 3.75 inches

Lady Caroline Lister-Kaye nee Pepys (1827-1902) daughter of Charles Christopher Pepys, 1st Earl of Cottenham, who married 25 May 1852 Lister Lister-Kaye (1827 - 1855) son of Sir John Lister (Kaye) Lister-Kaye 2nd Bt (1801 - 1871).
