A FINE PART SILK TABRIZ RUG, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The charcoal-black field with fine stylised herati pattern together with soft red and ivory double medallion with pendants containing similar design. Spandrels similar. In charcoal-black border of polychrome turtle-palmettes rosettes and floral vine between arabesque and small flowerhead stripes, approx: 5ft.2in. x 3ft.5in.(157cm. x 1047cm.) Classic for this type with well drawn design. This rug has full pile, fine wool quality and silk infussion. Very slight discolouration at one end barely visible. Ends and selvages original. Fine weave, approx: 8x 8 knots per sq.cm. In general this rug is in very good usable condition. Unusual to have this design in small size.
