A late 18th / early 19th century American silver soup ladle, New York circa 1800 by John Vernon (1755-1845 active from 1786)

Federal period. Pointed pattern, engraved with typically sideways initials TEB in cursive script flourished. Marked to the reverse.

Length – 38 cm / 14.9 inches

Weight – 209 grams / 6.72 ozt

A smaller ladle marked the same for Vernon is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art [2005.462.10]
