Each painted in reserve with slender dragons weaving between large flowering peonies and foliate medallions against a blue ground, the bases marked with double-circles

PROVENANCE:

Formerly in the collection of Dr. Arthur Kauffmann (1887-1983), a German-British art dealer who worked for (and later owned) the Frankfurt branch of the auctioneers Hugo Helbing, and later was an art dealer in London. Kauffmann was a member of the British Antique Dealers' Association and the Oriental Ceramic Society;

Formerly in the collection of Professor C. M. Kauffmann (1931-2023), Keeper of Prints, Drawings and Paintings at the Victoria and Albert Museum, and subsequently Director of the Courtauld Institute of Art;

Thence by descent.
