A pair of early 20th century Chinese export silver candlesticks, Shanghai circa 1920, marked Bi Ji, retailed by Wang Hing of Canton and Hong Kong

Republic period. The bases of domed hexagonal form, the central stem formed as bamboo with a cylindrical capitals, fitted with pull our everted circular sconces. The capitals with flat chased decoration of bamboo against a ring punched ground. The bases chased as bamboo roots. Marked to the base sides and sconces with artisan mark 逼記 (BI JI, the workshop of Bi) and retailer’s mark WH90. (2)
