An early 20th century Anglo- Indian unmarked silver bowl, Lucknow circa 1910
Raj period. Of rounded circular form with a scalloped rim, chased decoration in Cutch pattern of foliate scrolls with rosettes, a vacant shield shape cartouche to one side. The underside flat chased with peacock eye pattern.
Diameter – 12.4 cm / 4.8 inches
Weight – 138 grams / 4.44 ozt
These pronounced scalloped edge bowls are a distinct form to the Lucknow region, an area of Indian silversmithing known for their deftness in copying the decorative schema of other parts of India as well as Burma.
