A FINE HAMADAN-MALAYIR RUG, WEST PERSIA

The deep indigo field with overall design of large hooked and stepped palmettes containing smaller hooked palmettes and aangular floral motifs surrounded by various hooked panels, rosettes and stylised birds. In camel-beige narrow border of angular floral vine between light blue floral meander and rust hooked boteh motifs stripes. Outer barber-pole stripes, approx: 5ft.11in. x 5ft.3in.(180cm. x 160cm.). Very good type and very nicely drawn design, bold appearance. Colours are well blended. This rug has slight localized wear to the top pile, barely visible. Ends with short fringes. Selvages rebound. In general this rug is in very good usable condition. Very good square size. Attractive and very good furnishing piece.
