An early 20th century Chinese export silver christening mug, Canton circa 1910, marked Xie Chang, retailed by Tuck Chang of Shanghai
Qing dynasty. Of tapering cylindrical form with moulded rims, a handle modelled as bamboo. The body with embossed decoration of various children in play against trees, all reserved with a textured ground. The circular cartouche to the front later engraved ‘Virginia 29.7.43’. Gilt interior. Marked underneath with artisan mark 協昌 (XIE CHANG), numeral 90, and retailer’s mark TC.
