A mid-18th century Dutch silver wine taster / child’s porringer, Amsterdam 1768, maker’s mark obliterated

Of circular form with caulked rim, the plain disc thumbpiece engraved with a galleon ship, the interior of the bowl engraved with a man in contemporary dress sitting on a bench holding a flagon looking at his pipe. Marked underneath with a standard mark (934 standard), date letter I, town mark twice in differing forms and obliterated makers mark.

Length – 14 cm / 5.5 inches

Weight – 146 grams / 4.69 ozt
