AN AFSHAR RUG, SOUTH-WEST PERSIA

The ivory field with overall diagonal rows of bold floral boteh motifs surrounded by delicated floral and leafy lattice. In shaded light rust-red border of stylised bold angular arabesques and angular floral vine between floral and plain stripes, approx: 6ft.9in. x 5ft.3in.(236cm. x 160cm.) Very nicely drawn design, unusual for this type. Colours are well balanced. This rug has full pile, soft wool quality. Selvages original. Ends with original kilim and fringes, one with tiny repair on the kilim, barely visible. In general this rug is in very good condition. Elegant and very good furnishing piece.
