An early 18th century German parcel gilt silver covered beaker, Augsburg 1719-20 by Johann Fassnacht (b. 1654, meister 1686, d. 1726)

of tapering cylindrical form raised upon three ball feet, the pull off domed lid surmounted by a ball finial. The body with a lower band of embossed C scrolls, baskets of fruit, and ho-ho birds all reserve with fish scales and matting. The upper section with a flat chased band of matted scrolls. The edge with a chased band of foliate scrolls and baskets of fruit. Gilt sections throughout. Incised letters underneath. Maked underneath and to lid edge with town mark (Seling 180) and maker’s mark F in a heart shaped punch (Seling 1820), and assay scrape (tremolierstich) underneath and to lid interior.
