A late 19th century Anglo – Indian unmarked silver teapot, Cutch circa 1890

Raj period. Of tapering baluster form upon a collet foot. The curved spout opposite a C scroll handle leading to a hinged domed lid surmounted by a finial of a caparisoned elephant statant. The body with deep chased decoration of foliate scrolls and rosettes with a vacant shield shape cartouche to one side flanked by courant lions, the reverse with a pair of courant hounds. The lid and spout similarly decorated. The collet foot with a border of rosettes.
