An early 20th century Burmese silver small bowl, Rangoon circa 1920
Of compressed circular form, with embossed figural scenes, from the Ramayana, against a fish scale ground, such as Rama slaying Maricha as the golden dear as he shouts "Oh Sita! Oh Lakshmana!", luring Lakshmana away this allows Ravana to appear to Sita alone as a mendicant (Sadhu), in search of alms, where Ravana then captures her, interspersed with trees, all above a band of leaves. Flat chased underneath with a peacock in display.
