A CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE 'LOTUS POND' BOWL SHARD.
Yuan Dynasty.
The rounded body supported on a high, cylindrical foot, the interior vividly painted with a lotus pond densely populated with flowering lotus plants emerging from rippling water, a pair of ducks swimming across the surface, one with head turned back over fanned tail feathers, the exterior painted with a wide lappet band, the base unglazed, 14cm diameter.
Provenance: English collection, acquired in 1990s.
