A late 19th / early 20th century Anglo – Indian unmarked silver teapot, Cutch circa 1900
Raj period. Of spherical form raised upon four feet with chased leafy junctions, with a curved spout terminating in a bird head like terminal opposite a D section handle leading to a domed lid surmounted by a finial of a caparisoned elephant statant. The body with chased decoration of foliate scrolls and rosettes. One side with a shield shape cartouche engraved with initials S.M in gothic script.
