An interesting late 19th century Anglo – Indian unmarked silver bowl, Lucknow circa 1890
Raj period. Of rounded lobed form with a fold over rim. The body with chased decoration of various and unusually idiosyncratic scenes alternating with village and jungle pattern, including tigers, cranes, antelope, dogs, a rabbit, an elephant, all with Haveli (Indian town house), a yogi, a horse drawn cart with rider, a woman kneeling, a soldier besides a temple, a figure with a weighing scales, a man besides a bird feeder, a woman from a swing, a man with a yoke among others. All between bands of trailing foliate scrolls and rosettes. Chased underneath with a coriander rosette.
