PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT EUROPEAN PRIVATE COLLECTION
Iran, mid to late 19th century

Of typical flaring cylindrical shape, with an everted rim, the exterior painted in polychrome enamels following the typical Qajar arrangement of 'miniature portraits and floral bouquets', with four cusped cartouches filled with portraits of Qajar beauties and youths alternating with lush floral blooms and foliage, all against a golden ground, the top and bottom decorated with a wavy fretwork band enhanced with flower heads, the interior painted in light and dark green enamels following a dotted pattern, 8.5cm diam. and 6.5cm high.
