A late 18th century German gold snuff box, Hanau circa 1780 by AP (unidentified)
Of oval form, the hinged lid with a diamond reserve with an enamelled portait of a lady, flanked by two enamel floral ovals. The body finely engraved with flower garlands. The base with oval cartouche of a trophy of war topped by a dove, above a winged heart, framed by floral garlands, reserved with a radial ground. Marker's mark AP crowned flanked by two laurel springs on base and lid interior and Prussian control mark.
