A late 19th century silver mounted tortoiseshell singing bird box, probably Swiss circa 1880
Of rectangular form with a hinged back section, the parcel gilt hinged central oval lid with engraved birds approaching an insect leaving a rose, between crossed tendrils. Edged with a gilt herringbone band. The interior with a gilt and pierced grill of foliage, revealing the bird automaton. Functions.
