A late 19th century Anglo – Indian unmarked silver mug, Cutch circa 1890
Raj period. Of baluster form upon a spreading domed circular foot, the handle formed a serpent with a coiled lower junction. The body with deep chased decoration of foliate scroll with rosettes interspersed with pursuant animals; a boar, a tiger, an antelope and a pig, all above a border of stylised acanthus leaves. Fitted with a removable plain liner, attached by a wing nut underneath.
