A GROUP OF SEVEN CHINESE JADES AND HARDSTONE CARVINGS.
19th / 20th Century.
Comprising: a jadeite pendant carved in the form of a peach, its flowering branches wrapped in a lingzhi fungus, a carved lapis pendant formed as a series of melon fruits borne on a branch, two jade carvings of a mythical beast raised on an oval-section plinth with rounded bases, and three circular bi disks, similarly decorated with one side incised with an archaistic pattern, the reverse carved in relief with a chi dragon, 4 - 8cm long. Provenance: an important South African private collection, acquired between the 1960s and 1980s, thence by descent to the present owner.
