Notes:

Csaky’s Lionne works, such as this lot, were produced in the early 1920s, mark a striking shift in his oeuvre from human figure-sculpture toward stylised animal forms. The lioness sculptures thus occupy a fascinating intersection of avant-garde Cubism, animal subject-matter, and architectural decorative intent—bridging functional ornament and fine modernist sculpture.
