A FINE JOSHAGHAN CARPET, WEST PERSIA

The field with diagonal rows of multicoloured various angular floral sprays and open floral panes around rust serrated lozenge medallion with similar design. Sea-blue spandrels similar. In rust border of bold polychrome palmettes, arabesquers and delicated floral vine between floral and plain striupes, approx: 330cm. x 226cm. Classic for this type with well drawn motifs and good colour scheme. This carpet has full pile, very soft and lustrous wool. Ends with short fringes, secured. Selvages rebound, very well done. Fine weave, approx: & x 7 knots per sq. cm. In general this carpet is in very good usable condition throhghout. Elegant and good furnishing piece.
