λ A rare Japanese Ko-Imari 'fukizumi' tea caddy (chaire), Edo period, 17th century

The fine and robustly potted tea caddy of squat double-gourd shape, decorated to the exterior all over with underglaze blue splashes, the cream-coloured silhouettes of two fish swimming amongst them visible on the surface, together with a silk purse and a Japanese wood box and cover (tomobako)
