An early 20^th century Burmese unmarked silver betel box, Shan States circa 1920

Of cylindrical form, with pull off top section. The sides of lid with embossed decoration of animals within segmented rectangular cartouches with re-entrant corners between sections of stylised foliage, all between repeating geometric bands. The top of lid centred with an embossed recumbent creature between bands of whorls and textured forms. The underside with a chased lion encircled within three concentric bands of herringbone pattern.
