A CHINESE CARVED JADE FIGURE OF A MAN.
Qing Dynasty, 18th / 19th Century.
Standing in loose fitting garments, the face wrinkled into a deep smile, the long sleeves coiled beneath the elbows, the hands grasping at a chaozhu necklace worn around the neck, 8.5cm H.
Provenance: an important South African private collection, acquired between the 1960s and 1980s, thence by descent to the present owner.
