A CHINESE PALE CELADON CARVING OF A RAM, TOGETHER WITH THREE JADE ‘BOYS’ CARVINGS.
Carved seated with the legs tucked beneath, the head with long curled horns, lowered with a spray of lingzhi fungus grasped between the teeth, one boy carved kneeling with the head raised to the right a spray of lingzhi fungus held across his shoulders, another seated cross-legged with arms crossed and a lingzhi spray clutched to his left ear, a third carved with a wide flat body holding a scroll, 2 - 6cm long. (4)
Provenance: an important South African private collection, acquired between the 1960s and 1980s, thence by descent to the present owner.
