A COMPOSITE TINNED COPPER TEAPOT WITH DRAGON HANDLE AND SPOUT
PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE GERMAN COLLECTION

Of globular shape, resting on a composite stepped and splayed foot, rising to a slightly everted rim, with a hemispherical lid separated in two parts, one part of the lid covering the hot water container, whilst the dome-shaped top surmounted by a bud-like finial covering the loose tea leaves container, the curved spout and the sinuous handle with typical dragon-head terminals, the exterior densely engraved with coarse calligraphic bands on the upper borders, and cusped cartouches filled with vegetal motifs and arabesques in the lower and middle sections, 35.8cm high and 18.7cm diam.
