PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT PRIVATE EUROPEAN COLLECTOR
Iran, 18th - 19th century

Comprising a small shallow rounded bowl with everted lobed rim, resting on a straight short foot, the white stonepaste body painted in underglaze cobalt blue pigment, the decoration consisting of a garden scene inspired by Chinese porcelains, with peonies and a bird in the centre and a band of lobed cartouches of vegetal, floral and garden motifs on the exterior, the base with inventory stickers, 12.5cm diam. and 6cm high; and a near-matching saucer with prunus blossom and butterfly motif in the centre, Chinese knotwork and stylised abstract motifs on the exterior, 15cm diam. and 3cm high.
