A GROUP OF STONEWARE BUTTONS, possibly attributed to Dame Lucie Rie (British 1902-1995): A group of stoneware buttons, five of braided circular form, in a purple glaze, and five blue/green glazed buttons of organic circular form, with concentric circle decoration.
There are comparable buttons and button moulds present within the V&A collection. Please see accession numbers C104:1,2-2009 , T.251-1982 .
Provenance:
By family repute, this lot was gifted by Lucie Rie to the current owners mother in the 1970’s. In that period, the owners mother was undergoing teacher training at Maria Grey Teacher Training College – Twickenham and came into contact with Lucie Rie during her period of study.
