An early 20th century Chinese export silver jam or conserve pot, Shanghai circa 1930 by Gan Sheng, retailed by Tuck Chang
Of cylindrical form with an opposable handle, the pull off domed lid surmounted by a ball finial, with cut out for holding preserve spoon. The body with embossed decoration of peonies, against a hammered ground. Circular cartouche engraved with initials MAB, cypher. Clear glass liner. Marked underneath and to spoon with retailer TUCK CHANG and an artisan mark 幹生 (GAN SHENG).
